Make Use of @tweetitow Command Keys to Get Most in Receiving Twitter Updates

Another questions I get most is about how to receive updates from other users, how to turn off the ‘receive updates,’ how to check credits, and others. Probably some of you do not even know about command keys. So following are some blow-by-blow details of the different @tweetitow command keys. You can find a complete list here.

Going Online and Offline

/on — Before any thing else, send /on to any of the gateways to start receiving your mentions and DMs. The /on command key is a signal for @tweetitow to check your  twitter time line for your mentions and DMs.

/off — You send /off if you want to go offline to stop receiving tweet updates. Please note that with /off, you will lose the people you have activated (/follow @user) to receive tweet updates from. So the next time you go online, you need to follow them back again in case you still want to receive updates for them.

/hold — If you want to stop receiving updates but then you want to maintain the people you have followed to receive tweet updates from in your next online session, use the /hold command key instead of the /off. The /hold can be liken to pause.

/resume — This is used to signal @tweetitow to disable /hold so you can receive tweet updates again.

Different Ways to Receive/Retrieve Twitter Updates

/follow @user1 @user2 — Sending /on will not let you automatically receive tweet updates from all the people in your follow list. For you to receive updates from other twitter users, send /follow @user1 to @user8. Each twitter account registered to @tweetitow is allowed to follow 8 users. Just make sure that the 8 usernames fit into 140 characters. Please note that you can only receive updates from those users who are already in your Follow list. So make sure that the person you want to receive updates from is already in your follow list.

/leave @username — Use this command key if you want to stop receiving tweet updates from a particular user you /follow.

/whatsnew –> You will receive the latest 5 updates in your twitter time line. If you are bored, and you have nothing much to do or you want to take a peek at the recent tweets of the people you follow, you can use this command key.

/whatsnew @username 5 — If you want to check the latest 5 tweets of a particular user in your follow list, send /whatsnew @username 5. This will come handy if you have maxed out your /follow to 8. Or, if you do not want to use /follow, you can instead use this.

/followstats — To get a list of the different people you activated to receive updates from your mobile phone.

Check Credits Left

/credits — To know how many credits left to your account. Please click here to know more about credits. You will receive the following message:

“You have xx credits & # avail follows. Credits r reloaded to 50 evryday. Session check interval: 360 secs.”

xx credits = number of credits left

# avail follows = how many twitter users you can /follow to receive updates from

Session check interval: 360 secs. = Your twitter timeline is checked by @tweetitow every 360 seconds to see if you have new tweet updates. Thus, there is a ‘delay’ in receiving updates.

Giving is Sharing is Loving

/give @user # of credits — You can give some of your credits to others users by sending, for example: /give @username 50

Check Twitter Account Tied to the Mobile Number

/whoami – If you have multiple twitter accounts registered to @tweetitow using different numbers, you can use this command key to check what twitter account is registered with that number.

If you have questions, suggestions, violent reactions, please drop them as comments. =)
